The list of the world's strongest passports for 2022 has been released; where is India stands..?

India is ranked 69th in the world's strongest passport list, while the UAE is ranked first in the rating of passports for 2022, which was recently made public. The Passport Index 2022, published by Arton Capital, ranks the world's strongest and weakest passports and tells you how many countries you can visit without a visa.

With a UAE passport, travellers can enter 180 countries without difficulty — 121 countries without a visa and 59 countries with visa on arrival. Only 89 countries require a visa.

Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Luxembourg, and South Korea were among the top ten European countries. They have visa authority to travel to 126 countries, but 47 require a visa on arrival.

The US passport ranks third, allowing visa-free travel to 116 countries, with the UK ranking fourth.

Meanwhile, Indians with a ranking of 69 can only travel visa-free to 24 countries, require a visa on arrival in 48 other countries, and require a visa in 126 countries. India is ranked alongside countries such as Gambia, Ghana, Uzbekistan, and Tanzania.

Afghanistan is last on the list, with only 38 countries on its visa-free list; Pakistan passport holders can travel to only ten countries, and Syria and Iraq only eight.

The Passport Index methodology is based on the 139 United Nations members, with six territories considered for the list. The data is based on official information provided by governments, is updated in real-time with crowdsourced intelligence, and is supplemented with proprietary research from highly credible sources.

A three-tier method is used to determine the individual rank of each passport: mobility score (MS) - includes visa-free (VF), visa on arrival (VOA), eTA and eVisa (if issued within 3 days), VF portion of their score vs VOA, and United Nations Development Programme Human Development Index 2018 (UNDP HDI) is used as a tie breaker. The UNDP HDI is an important indicator of a country's international perception.
